Music at Langley United Church

Music Leadership

Our music team at Langley United is Tim Bailey as the Choir Leader, and Sharon Prindle-Collins as the Church Musician. The choir sings a broad range of sacred music from the last 500 years including praise music, spirituals, and contemporary music from the Iona and Taizé communities.

The Chancel Choir

The Chancel Choir, Easter 2005Our 25+ voice choir sings most Sundays and provides music leadership for the weekly worship services, special services and other events. Some of our members have studied music and voice while others cannot read music. For anyone interested, there are opportunities for solos or duets. If you love to sing you would be most welcome to join us. Come along any Thursday evening (except in July and August) between 7:30 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. – we would be delighted to see you.

Youth Wind Ensemble

Youth WindsFrom time to time several of our young people take part in worship services. Anyone who plays an instrument is encouraged to join this group, lead by Barry Brown, one of our choir members.

Concert Series

Concerts during 2009 were in February A Night on Broadway, great music performed wonderfully by Calla Krause, Katie Purych and Lindsay Warnock, accompanied by Greg Caisley. The Sound Revival Gospel Quartet filled the Church with their uplifting music in May, with some members of the Langley United choir also taking part in this concert. In November, Christopher Simmons performed a beautiful recital in a Remembrance Day tribute to all those who fought to keep us free. Greg Caisley returned to accompany Chris. The ninth edition of our Under the Mistletoe Christmas concert is set for December 11th - see our Events page for mover details.
